14th 1999 - We'll build on everything we learned this year and watch for us next season" said a somewhat weary John Fitzpatrick, driver of the #14 Planet Snak/Nabisco Chev following the final CASCAR race of 1999. His 18th place finish at the CARQUEST 200 at New Brunswick International Speedway, meant a 12th place finish in the Eastern Canadian Championship. "I had a touch of the flu and that didn't help us today, but as usual, we had a good car, it was fast and I want to thank Planet Snak and Nabisco for a great year with us". These people were there every race, supporting us and helping our cause". The final points standings show a 12th place finish in
Eastern Canada and a 17th in National standings, not bad
for a driver in his first full year on Canada's premier
stock car tour and for a driver with only 22 CASCAR Super
Series starts. "We'll be much better prepared for
some of those tracks next year, especially places like
Edmonton, Mosport and even the Molson Indy circuit in
Toronto. We'd never raced on these tracks before and yet,
we consistently took time off our laps every practice
session". John Fitzpatrick plans on taking a road
course school as well as attending an oval track course
during the off season to further improve upon his skills
while the team will stay largely in tack for the 2000
season. Adding to the weekends excitement for the Planet
Snak/Nabisco team, was the crowning of their teammate,
Don Thomson Jr in the #4 Home Hardware Chev as Eastern
Canadian Champion. NOTES: John Fitzpatrick finished the 1999 season with 3 top 10's, the best of which was a 5th place finish in Montreal. The #14 Planet Snak/Nabisco Chev won three qualifying races and they qualified among the top 10 on three occasions. (13 total races for the Planet Snak/Nabisco team) John Ryan Fitzpatrick finished the 1999 CASCAR Jr season in 4th place. He won two races in his Planet Snak/Nabisco Junior car. He finished in the top four in 9 of the 10 races he entered. He showed no fear in entering corners and has a promising future.
